Stop Bead
To make a stop bead, use an odd bead that is a different color or shape than the ones for the beadwork. This will make it easier to see and not confuse with your work on the first few rows. Wrap the thread around the bead. The needle should be at one end of the thread, leaving a tail of thread trailing out of the stop bead. The stop bead should slide back and forth on the thread. Slide it up the thread until the tail is the length desired.

Tubular Peyote
(aka: Round peyote, Circle peyote, Gourd stitch)
String on a stop bead.
String the number of beads needed to form the circle. Push beads up to the stop bead and run needle through the first bead to form the circle. This circle will form the first 2 rows of the bead work,
Work the rows, as you would flat peyote by stringing a bead and running through the second bead from the thread. When you arrive at the end of the row, work a Step up by running through the beads until your needle exits of the first bead of the row.
